The Department of Physiology and Biophysics held its annual Recknagel Symposium on Thursday, September 13, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in the Department lecture hall.
Two of the Department's second year doctoral students, Sheng Gong (l) and Yutong Shang (r) presented on projects from their first year laboratory rotations. Yutong Shang received the award for the best presentation and Sheng Gong received the award for academic achievement. Sheng is a member of the lab of Dr. Christopher Ford and Yutong is a member of the lab of Dr. Xin Qi.
The Department established the annual Recknagel Symposium in memory of Professor Richard Recknagel, who was Chairman of the Department of Physiology from 1976 to 1986 and an admired thinker and investigator who took a keen interest in mentoring young students and faculty.
